Good point made. I guess it depends on the individual. Some people exercise for weight loss while other people exercises to build strength and muscle.

I disagree, excercise isn't about lowering fat.
Losing fat is a by-product of improved fitness.
To try and explain that I want to point out that fitness isn't just physical, a good part of it is mental toughness.

Person one starts counting EVERY calorie, EVERY repetition, spends time documenting EVERYTHING, reads online fitness sites DAILY and believes he/she knows what they're doing = good results.

Person two ties a chain to the front bumper of their econo-car and drags it up a hill repeatedly until their heart wants to pump out of their chest = NOT for the average joe/jane but GUARANTEED to result in a stronger and tougher level of fitness.

When I played football and was 327 lbs at 4% body fat I destroyed so called "fitness pro" defensive ends all game long. So much so that I also played middle linebacker on offense - I loved it.

The main message I want to give with this comment though is that if you want a high horsepower body be prepared to be so hungry you'll empty the fridge daily AND NEED IT. The #1 most classic mistake is thinking you can cut what goes into the tank AND be the biggest tough guy on the block. You can't, and you're a fool if you think you can. Go ahead and underestimate a real tough guy when you visit your next bar, you'll see what I mean.

Good points. I really like interval training for my cardio.

I have a home elliptical trainer and love it. Unfortunately, it is in the master bedroom and about to get stored to the garage. My wife and I are getting new bedroom furniture, and there will not be room for an exercise equipment. Next house will have a dedicated room for exercise equipment, though. Hopefully :)
